The world has a myriad of energy sources. Fossil fuels — including natural gas, petroleum and coal accounted for more than 81 percent of all energy consumed in the year 2018. Renewable energy sources like solar energy, wind power biomass, hydroelectricity and biomass comprise 14 percent. Nuclear energy accounts for another 5 percent. Different countries utilize different sources of energy to meet environmental and economic requirements.
Nature’s energy is available in a variety of forms such as wind, sun, waves, and ocean. These sources of energy are transformed into more convenient energy forms, such as electricity or heat, when they are harnessed. These energies become non-renewable sources of energy once they have been exhausted.
The environment is harmed due to a wide range of fossil fuels as well as some other energy sources that aren’t renewable. Mining oil, for instance is a destructive process that can destroy the forests that are virgin to the earth. Hydraulic fracture (fracking) can trigger earthquakes as well as water pollution. The combustion of coal releases carbon dioxide, contributing to global warming.
